    What is FringeIdeas

    Everyone has ideas.

Ideas are what define our universe, our beliefs and the world we live in. They give our lives substance, meaning and purpose. They drive us to strive for greatness, to fail, to try again, and sometimes to succeed. While some ideas are better than others, most never make it beyond being just an idea. But what if they did? Everything in this world started as an idea. Each good idea, moved us a little further along our evolutionary path. Just imagine the possibilities, if every good idea had a chance!

Ideas are living things that need resources to move beyond the imagination and into our world of reality. They start as a thought, an inspiration or an insight. Over time with much planning, ideas can germinate into the beginning of what they will be.

When someone has extraordinary resolution and persistence, the idea can grow. Unfortunately most ideas die at this point. Commitment and the lack of financial resources result in most people giving up on their ideas. On FringeIdeas, every idea can have a chance.

So what are you? Are you someone with an idea, looking for financial support to get your idea to the finish line or are you an idea champion, someone interested in helping ideas have a chance and ultimately making the world a little better?

In either case, you have come to the right place! FringeIdeas is where every idea can have a chance and everyone can help make a difference.

    Idea Holders

So you have an idea, great!

If you are like most people with ideas, you simply lack the resources to bring your ideas to life.

Let's imagine that you need $100,000 to launch your idea, but you only have $100 of your own money. You don't know anyone that will lend or give you that much money, no banks will finance you, so the prospect of building your idea is fading fast.

What if you got 10 friends together to show them your idea and discuss the plan you have to succeed. If you ask them ask to give you $5 to support your idea, do you think they would? You just raised $50 in capital to proceed on your plan. What if you then asked each friend to get 10 friends together so that you can meet with their group to discuss your idea. If each friend arranges a meeting, then you can attend and present your idea. If they all decide to support you as well, when you finish presenting to the first round of supporters, you will have raised $550.

This plan is simple and successful. You are only asking each supporter to give you $5 and because you have a well thought out plan along with a good idea, there is no hesitation to help. The problem becomes the presentations. At $50 per group you will need to make 2,000 presentations to reach your goal.

This is where FringeIdeas can help. Rather than physically presenting to people, you can put your complete presentation on FringeIdeas and encourage your friends to join your Group to support your idea. You can also encourage them to get their friends to join your group as well. FringeIdeas manages the centralization of your plan presentation, the membership to your idea-group, the collection of your support funds and accessing your funding.

We call this process Crowd Funding. Through your sphere of influence, you can build a crowd of supporters for any sized project without the fear of financial burden to anyone. In fact, if you start a crowd with 10 people, and they build it the same, when the members are 5 people removed from you, the crowd is just under 150,000 people in size. By building enthusiasm for your idea, it can catch on so that each new person spreads that enthusiasm and your Group experiences exponential grow. This is the nature of a Crowd.

FringeIdeas is also becoming a centralized pool of both Idea Holders and Idea Supporters. This means that you have the opportunity to have your support extend beyond your sphere of influence, and therefore provide you with more resources, faster.

FringeIdeas is an open community, which means that if you post your idea as an open idea, anyone that likes it could do it themselves. This could be a good thing or a bad thing, you will have to decide. You can also post your idea as a private idea, which means that only people you invite to view your idea for consideration will be able to see it. While this can maintain more security against someone taking your idea, it also slows the support you will raise for your idea, to only the people you invite to support you.

FringeIdeas is based on Crowd Funding. In summary works like this:

First you create a group space on FringeIdeas where supporters of your idea can review information you post about your idea. This can be media files, pdf documents, YouTube videos, etc.

Your IdeaGroup area is closed to public access until you decide when to launch your idea

While configuring your group area, you decide how much you will need, your time-line to raise the funds and what you will give back to the group if you are successful.

When you are ready, you open your group and encourage all the people you know socially to join FringeIdeas and support your project. You can use some of our prepared contact templates or make your own,

You tell them to help you raise the funding you need by passing on the request to their social network. They too can use our contact templates or make their own. When you reach you idea's target, you will be able to draw on your funds and launch your idea.

It costs nothing to join. Once you are a member, you will need to purchase points to post your idea and support others. For just $20 using your PayPal account, you can purchase 15 points which will get you started. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can register for free on PayPal.com. You will need a PayPal account to access your idea funds.

So are you ready to join FringeIdeas and launch your idea?

    Idea Supporters

    Each of us knows people.

When you stop and consider how many people you know, it adds up to quite a few. Family, fiends, neighbours, co-workers, club members and online social friends. This network of contacts, while made up of individuals, collectively can wield significant influence. A current example of crowd influence is American Idol and other crowd voting reality shows.

During each season, a new star is made. They are made by our choice, voting as an individual becoming part of a group. This same influence and power is used to select and launch projects on FringeIdeas.

FringeIdeas provides you with a means to gather people that you know to support ideas that you think are worthwhile. You decide which ideas are good, have a good plan to execute and which idea people you feel will make it to the finish line. Let's look at how the process works.

There are 2 ways that brought you to FringeIdeas.

You where searching for something, and this is where you landed or someone you know suggested you come here to support an Idea they are supporting.

    We'll assume the later.

Let's imagine that you were invited someone you know to join a group trying to raise $100,000 to launch an idea.

Rather than asking you to invest $100,000 or an similarily large amount, you are asked to join the group and pitch-in $5. Further you are asked review the idea plan, and if you feel it is worthy, tell your contacts to do the same. In essence you are being asked to use your influence to support the project. You influence along with each other person that joins the group, collectively can help the plan achieve its financial goals to launch the idea.

This is referred to as Crowd Funding. It is similar to the way that American Idol and other reality shows use the influence of their audience to launch a star. The difference here is the star is an idea.

Why would you want to do this?

There are a number of good reasons to support this idea:

The person that sent you this invitation felt that the idea they had supported by joining was worthwhile enough to send it to you,

    • You will be recognized as at supporter of this idea,
    • You will earn recognition for the number of ideas you support and the success of those ideas,
    • You will be able to make a difference. Remember that every good thing in this world started as an idea, by supporting an idea, you have the opportunity to make the world, a little (or a lot) better,
    • You will have the opportunity to show you support by encouraging your contacts to support the idea,

If you really feel that the idea is worthy of more than your group joining support, you can contact the holder and propose another investment proposal,

It costs nothing to join and for only $20 you can get 15 points that you can use to support ideas. Who knows, maybe you will come up with a good idea too. Your account is no different than an Idea Holder, so you can support and seek support should you want.

So register today, and support an idea.

    CrowdFunding

In the past, anyone with an idea typically had to use all their own money and any "love" money (from family members) they could raise to launch an new idea.

Today, social media has provided a new means of raising funds to launch new ideas. Now an individual with an idea can ask their social contacts to support their idea, and in turn ask their contacts to do the same. When executed properly, support can grow and adequate funding can be raised to launch an idea. This is referred to as CrowdFunding.

The question becomes, why couldn't some unscrupulous person raise funds for their own benefit or for something like a personal trip. Well they could, if they could get people to support their idea, and get them to promote the idea to their social network. In most cases this would not happen because there is no reason for people to support their idea.

CrowdFunding is self-policing. If I am not convinced that you have an idea worthy of my support, I will not support it nor will I promote it to my network. If an idea does not gain the support it seeks within the time-frame setup for it, then the project will die and no funds will be available to the group.

Finally, CrowdFunding provides a means to limit the financial exposure of an idea that does not work to any one individual. Each member of the Crowd commits only a small amount of funds to the project, but is asked to promote the idea to their network. This way they can provide significant funding without the associated risk.

While this may not produce the high return that a high risk investment would make, it does provide the satisfaction of seeing the idea evolve and in some cases, they may benefit from some reward.

Joint today and find an idea to support...

    Your Social Networks

When you find ideas that spark your interest, promote them to your personal social network. These are people that you know socially, personally and through work. You are not getting them to "buy" anything, you simply introduce them to the idea. If they like it, they will want to support it, if they don't they won't.

On FringeIdeas, when you introduce someone to an Idea and they join the group, you are awarded 1 point. You can use this point to vote, ballot and join groups. The more people you introduce and join, the more ideas you can participate in.

Spread the word and help some good ideas, get a great start.
